Drama Therapy

Children grow through playful interaction.

Drama Therapy helps children participate creatively in back-and-forth social interaction and connect emotionally with other children.

In small groups, children co-create rich and exciting stories based on their own themes and characters. With the help of the drama therapist, they invent and explore a world of wonder and adventure where each child's ideas are represented.

Through their participation, children learn the intricate social dance necessary for successful social interaction: expressing ideas, listening and responding, leading and following, verbally and nonverbally.

Children who benefit from drama therapy include those who:

  • Have developmental challenges that interfere with their ability to successfully interact with other children
  • Have emotional or sensory difficulties that make social interaction an overwhelming experience and difficult to enjoy
  • Need help with friendship skills

What we offer:

  • Small group drama therapy sessions
  • Individual drama therapy
  • Coaching for parents who want to play with their children more effectively and enjoyably.

Getting Started with Drama Therapy:

  • Contact us by calling or emailing the office manager
  • Following a brief phone conversation with one of our clinicians we arrange an intake appointment with one of our psychologists to identify treatment goals
  • Drama therapy staff and psychologists meet to determine the most suitable group for your child.
