Drama Therapy/Social Skills Groups
Using cutting edge approaches to teach social skills
Our new curriculum combines actual social experience, through theatre improvisation and peer interaction, with direct teaching. We emphasize not just what to do (behaviors), but why (understanding) and how (through practice).
The drama therapy program takes place on Monday afternoons, during the academic school year.
The groups are small (2-5 children) and focus on each child’s individual needs, strengths, interests and goals.
Our Curriculum Includes:
- Making Friends: Initiating and Sustaining Play
- Understanding and Conveying Meaning through Non Verbal Expression
- facial expression
- gestures
- vocal inflection
- Spatial Awareness
- Flexible Perspective Taking
- Sharing Ideas and Building Logical Bridges to Ideas of Others
- Emotional Thinking
- understanding feelings
- coping with feelings
